VECTOR ARENA TRANSFORMED INTO WORLD OF WISHES

Within weeks of pop princesses the Pussycat Dolls performing one of the hottest shows in town, Vector Arena will be transformed into an ice rink to cater for princesses of a completely different kind.

The third family show since Vector Arena opened a little over two years ago is Disney’s Princess Wishes. Tinker Bell will whisk the audience through seven magical princess stories during this enchanting ice show.

Ariel, Snow White, Jasmine, Cinderella, Belle, Aurora and Mulan all have their dreams come true during the show, which includes artistic skating, graceful acrobatics, and an incredible set with special effects.

Vector Arena Chief Executive Guy Ngata is looking forward to once again welcoming families through the doors.

“It will be wonderful to see the delight on the kids faces at this fantastic show, and amazing to once again see the arena transformed into an ice rink for a few days,” he says.

“It shows how versatile Vector Arena is – over the last year it’s been used for world class concerts including Eric Clapton and Coldplay, as well as the Axis, Westpac Trust Halberg and Vodafone Music Awards, the Silver Ferns vs England netball test and the Supercross and Gravity Games.”

Two days before Disney on Ice presents Princess Wishes, which is produced by Feld Entertainment, layer upon layer of water will be poured onto steel-framed boards that act as a giant freezer tray to create the surface for the ice show.

It will only take one day to dismantle the ice rink after the show finishes on June 1, returning it to normal for other acts following hard on its heels.

“Coming up we’ve got Simon and Garfunkel, RAW Live 2009, the spectacular stage show Starlight Express, Westfield Style Pasifika, Il Divo and Andre Rieu, among others still to be announced,” says Mr Ngata.
