Most events allow small handheld digital and instamatic cameras (only) but this is subject to the discretion of the artist and promoter and is subject to change. If cameras are not permitted at a specific event, you will see that information written on the show's Event Page, which you can find by clicking on the More Info tab for that event. If you are unsure, please contact us prior to attending the event.
Video cameras or cameras that may be used for professional purposes (any camera with a detachable lens) will not be permitted into the arena and in most circumstances flash photography will not be permitted.
Professional photographers will need to seek permission from the event promoter to film or photograph for all events being held.
Permission is required from Vector Arena for any filming or photography of Vector Arena.
For almost every show at Vector Arena, patrons arriving late with a valid ticket can still gain access through the external entry doors and can also enter the internal bowl once the show has started. The rare exception is some of our more intimate theatre-style events, where, if you arrive late, you may be asked by our ushers to wait for a suitable break in the performance so your entry won't disrupt the performance and/or other patrons. For any event where you have a seated ticket and you're entering after the house lights have gone down, we highly recommend you ask an usher to help you get to your seat as finding it yourself in the dark can be tricky!
Whilst you cannot bring your own food and beverage to Vector Arena, the public dining outlets will be open, and a range of food and beverages, including alcohol, will be available for you to purchase and enjoy.
For most shows including sporting events and concerts, we do have our coat check available (but contact us to check if you are concerned it won't be open.) You'll find it downstairs at the far left of the building, next to the Info Booth. There will be a small charge for this service, and we have limited space, so get in quick. If you miss out, don't worry, as there's a bit of space underneath seats for jackets and bags. But regardless of where you stash your gear, please don't forget to collect it before you go!
Yes, EFTPOS facilities are available at Vector Arena for all purchases, and you'll find ATMs on both the lower level (near the elevators) and upper level (opposite Door 21). All major banks cards can be used in our ATMs.
If you'd like to grab cash before you come into the venue, you'll find an ATM on the corner of Mahuhu Crescent and Tapora Street, a 2 minute walk from the front doors of Vector Arena.
Vector Arena is an indoor, multi-purpose arena with a sealed floor and a closed roof. It differs from a stadium, which in general does not have a roof, and has turf or grass grounds with stadium style seating.
There are no public parking facilities located at Vector Arena, and we encourage the use of public transport as we enjoy such good access to Auckland's public transport hubs.
Unfortunately, street parking in downtown Auckland or nearby Parnell is not a great option. This is because most streets have parking limits or are resident-only parking, which is enforced.
However, there are more than 7,000 car parks located within a 1.5km radius (0.9 mile) of Vector Arena and over 4,000 hotel beds are within a short 2km (1.2 mile) radius. For information on parking buildings, see here.
Vector Arena is a non smoking environment and smoking is not permitted at any time within the venue. Smoking is, however, permitted on the outside terraced areas in the Tuning Fork and Heineken Green Room, located at the right hand side of Vector Arena, with entry access from within the arena and outside.
As a multi purpose, all-weather indoor arena, we host a diverse range of entertainment and sporting events, from rock concerts to classical performances, ballet, opera, family shows, netball, tennis, boxing and more.
Auckland Council works in conjunction with QPAM Ltd; the company responsible for building, management and operation of Vector Arena. The development of the arena is a BOOT project (Build Own Operate Transfer) under BOOT, Auckland Council has a public/private partnership with QPAM Ltd to build, own, operate and maintain Vector Arena over a 40 year period. At the end of this rights period, ownership will be transferred to Auckland Council.
